Puppy Package

varies

We'll follow the 4 or 8 week format, but timing will differ. We may meet once a month for a couple months, or more than once a week — it depends on the puppy and his development. Our focus is on correct socialization, puppy safety, and preparing them for their life ahead. We will follow the Puppy Guide template, or you can buy it and work it yourself!

Best for

What to expect

  • Puppies 8 weeks – 6 months old. We will accommodate location for not-completely-vaccinated dogs under 20 weeks of age.

  • Correct socialization, puppy safety, and preparation for becoming a dog.

  • Support through the sleepless nights, poop, vomit, and pee.

  • Real-world preparation.

Board and Train

varies

Drop your dog off with a trainer for boarding for 1 to 10 weeks. During this period, your dog receives training from the trainer. You will be expected to follow up with several 1:1 lessons. If you don't continue the work, it won't stick.

We almost exclusively do 1:1 lessons, and rarely take board and trains. Please contact us if you feel a board and train is best for you, we take them on a case-by-case basis. If we're full, we recommend Dayna with Cognitive K9 or Andy with AMPSK9

In-Person Only

I'm not sure how much or what type of training I need.

All good! See common timelines below to help you decide. And remember, commands can look different to every person. If you want a looser heel, it'll take less time to teach. A tighter heel needs more time. We'll always discuss goals and expectations at our first meet.

If you still have questions, ask us!

It's important to note that every dog and person is different. It might take a shorter or longer period of time for you and your dog to get the hang of things. These timelines are also based on folks who do their homework. If you don't continue what we teach, the changes won't stick no matter how much training you do!

LIFESAVING COMMANDS

4 or 8 weeks
"Stay" and "Let's Go" are the single most important commands you can teach your dog. These commands can mean the difference between life and death. We can teach basics in a single session, but we HIGHLY recommend working on these for a long period of time for best results.

BASIC COMMANDS

Single Session

Sit, down, walking well on a leash, hup, off, load up in a car, entering and leaving a kennel calmly.

TRICK COMMANDS

4 weeks

Sit pretty, wave, roll over, stand, back up, front, heel, weave.

SEPARATION ANXIETY

4 weeks minimum

Getting the dog(s) comfortable with you leaving.

AGGRESSION & REACTIVITY
4 or 8 weeks minimum
4 weeks at an absolute minimum, but these issues can take several weeks or even months to resolve. We'll spend the first session discussing options and expectations. A board and train might be a better option here.

SCENT DETECTION INTRO
Single Session
Intro to scent detection (teaching your dog to find things, and see our group here). Expect intermediate scent detection to take 4–8 weeks, and expert scent detection to be your whole entire life. Not all dogs are good fits for scent detection.

SERVICE DOG
16 weeks minimum
We will do a single session evaluation first to determine if you and your dog are a good fit for service work. Not all dogs are good fits for service work.
